Jill Phaneuf is an associate at Friedman Capital with a focus on matters pertaining to new acquisitions and underway deals. She works directly with Brian Friedman in the Washington, DC office on Friedman Capital’s acquisitions on strategic hospitality matters and events.

Ms. Phaneuf was formerly the program director and co-creator of the Georgetown University master's program in commercial real estate, where she was responsible for curriculum development, faculty hiring, budgets, and content development for conferences and events. More recently, Ms. Phaneuf consulted for the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School's Edward St. John Program in Real Estate in their Washington, DC location and has planned more than a handful of career fairs for students studying real estate.

Ms. Phaneuf left traditional academia to work on a startup pertaining to online commercial real estate education as a director at Bisnow Media. Ms. Phaneuf gained real estate experience working for developers at a boutique Washington firm with a robust and growing portfolio that includes three hotels and student housing in both Washington, DC and Charleston, South Carolina. She joined this firm a week after the closing of two major Washington hotels, and while there she had an array of responsibilities ranging from property management, leasing, construction and renovations, interior design, and investor relations and marketing for their Washington portfolio.

In the summer of 2014 Ms. Phaneuf worked at the top land use and real estate transactions law firm Goulston & Storrs as their only Washington law clerk researching and writing memos on various issues directly related to real estate development and client matters in both the Washington and Boston markets.

Ms. Phaneuf earned her bachelor's degree in economics, with a minor in business from Florida State University as a Florida Bright Futures scholar. At FSU, Ms. Phaneuf graduated summa cum laude in three years. Ms. Phaneuf earned a master's degree in journalism from Georgetown University in 2009. Ms. Phaneuf is currently a 2L at the George Washington University Law School. Although raised in South Florida, Ms. Phaneuf's family is from Northern Virginia and spent nearly every summer and winter in her childhood in the Washington Metropolitan Area, a city she considers her home. For fun, Ms. Phaneuf is a painter, a dog lover, and a yoga instructor.
